[" CHATEAUGUAY 7th YEAR — No.1 Candid “ Comments (By Alan Richardson) Reading through last week’s SUN, we noticed that there has been an outbreak of petty pilfering in the Terrace area.Just about two weeks ago we were preparing to report something similar in the Colonia area. Our four- year-old’s tricycle suddenly disappeared.Since she couldn't tell us where she'd had it last, a quick search of surrounding sireets was made.No luck.À couple of days later we made another seach, and found the lost bike some quarter of a mile away. The child who was riding it said she “found” it.Now we're not disputing the word of the child, but we would suggest that the child’s parents were remiss in not notifying somebody.Any one of the SUN’s corres pondants would have been happy to report the find.Incidentally, at one point, when we were convinced the bike had been deliberately stolen, we tried to report it to the police department.Upon calling the number listed in the phone book, we were given another number. At that number, no reply.Makes one wonder how we’ fare if we wanted police help in a hurry.IN THE SWIM My oh my, but theyre really dome along with that pool at Sei- gnory Park, and already there-s talk to this effect: Why does the CPOA want to build a pool when there’s a bigger and better one just a stone’s throw away?Well, having heard this from several people, we put it to one member of the CPOA executive, He immediately pointed out that jt costs $100 for a family of four to join the Seignory Club.Next year it'll cost another $100, and so on, and infinitum.— On the other hand, once CPOA members have paid their whack of pool- construction costs, it will proba- 16 PAGES BEAUHARNOIS, QUE.WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28, 1961 Five of the nine Chateauguay English Catholic students who are graduating from high schools in Montreal were present at a celebration organized by the Chaÿ'y Parent-Teacher Ass’n and presented with brief cases by their respeclive Schoo] Commissions. They are front row, from left to right : Tom Bates and Dorothy DeWitt; FINISHES FOURTH IN HOME REGATTA On Saturday the first Regatta of the seuson was held on the wind-swept Chateauguay river. The big surprise of the meet to most veteran observers was the showing of the Radisson crew.Radisson finished lasy in every Regatta last season but finished a strong third Saturday, 14 points ahead of fourth place Cha- tcauguay, and only 5 points behind second place Lachine.Car- tierville, as was excepted, ran away from the pack with first place finishes in 14 of the 17: events, and seconds in 12 events, to rack up a total of 185 points. The other clubs finished as iol- Jows: Otlerburn-20, Grand Trunk 13, and Ottawa Rideau-6.The big noise for Chateauguay was a newcomer to the club, Joe Ambrus, who last year paddled for Lachine.Joe took the only first for Chateauguay when he ran away from 9 other competitors in the Junior Single, and then in the very next event, Joe carned 3 more points via a third in the Senior Single, Chateau- guay’s first points of the afternoon came when Bill Lobban finished third in the Juvenile Single, and Bill also teamed with Gerry Kezar for a fifth in the Juvenile Tandem, Johnny Rock and Robin Walsh finished fourth in the Junior Tandem for another 2 points while Graham Mac- Gregor took fourth in the Junior Double Blade Single, and teamed up with Don Duffey for a fourth in the Junior Double Blade Tandem.John Rock scored another fourth in the Junior Single and finished fourth along with Don Duffey in the Junior Double Blade Tandem, The Junior Fours team of A.Pickard, J.Lee, E.Thompson and J.Braidwood finished fifth for Chateauguay’s last points. The only hope for the other clubs down the Cartierville superiorily seems to rest with the Juvenile competitors.Of the four Juvenile events only two were won by Cartierville which possibly means that some youngsters are coming up in the other clubs. Our own twosome of Gerry Kezar and Bill Lobban are expected to bring home some first place crests before the season ends.RUSTIK STILL UNDEFEATED; BURT'S POOL ROOM WINS FIRST IN CHATEAUGUAY INTERMEDIATE SOFTBALL LEAGUE ACTION In the first game on Sunday, Bert’s Pool Room came up with a new face in Roger Sauve who pitched a very creditable game to lead his team to an 8-6 victory over the Rams Stan Cahill took the loss in his first start of the season.Sauve also contributed to his own cause by picking up 2 hits, along with Roy, Choyon, and Abbe, to lead his team's attack. For the losers Claude Voyer was the big gun with three singles, while Dan Lavigne, Bill Butler and John Dempster each picked up two safeties.; In the second game the Rustik Restaurant wallopped Riverview Hotel 7-1 as your reporter gained credit for the victory with Mickey Lang taking the loss.Fred Jones hit safely three times in five at bat to lead the Rustik at the plate while for the losers Mickey Lang scored the only run in the first inning when a single hit by Jimmy Duffey sent him home.On Saturday, July 1st, the Rus- tik Restaurant Millionnaires, currently leading the Chateauguay league will play an exhibition game in Caughnawaga against the Bowery team, at present in second position
