march towards amalgamation of the Town of Chateauguay and Chateauguay Centre.Meetings have been held with the mayors and representatives of both councils, with representatives of the various organizations and many opinions have been heard.Officials of both towns see the many advantages of one administration, one police force etc., but feel that it will only work if regional politics are forgotten and the right men are chosen to administrate the amalgamated municipality. They Also point at the necessity that the population take the question seriously and act accordingly. In any case the Junior Chamber is pushing ahead for amalgamation at the earliest possible time. They are now sponsoring a petition.which some of Chamber officials feel will be signed by as much as 80 per cent of the population.in which the towns of Cha- teauguay and Chateauguay Centre are asked ‘to ““study the project of union of the two towns and to make a 21st’.This would then be followed by a Chateauguay wide referendum on Nov, 4th.Following are letters of Mayor Joseph Laberge of the Town of Chateauguay and Mayor Armand Brisebois of Chateauguay Centre addressed to the Junior Chamber at its most recent meeting on the question, Monday Sept.16th.Mavor Brisebois makes it clear that the taxpayers should be made fully aware of all the facts before he is asked to vote on the issue in referendum. Nous espérons sincèrement que l’esprit d'unité deployé durant les célebrations du 100e anniversaire soit le début d’une ère de coopération mutuelle pour le grand bien dela ville et de ces citoyens.JOYEUX by the council to study the current odorous water situation in Chateauguzy, submitted his report at last week's Centre council meeting, Mr, Auger stated that the cleaning of the water tower located in
