Que., Oct.27, THE SENSIBLE MOTHER When little ones are ill the sensible mother no longer doses them with nauseous, griping, purgatives, nor puts them to sleep with the so-called “soothing” preparations*which always contain harmful opiates.Baby’s Own Tablets have been used by thousands of mothers who cheerfully testify that they are gentle in their actions, absolutely safe and make little ones sleep soundly and naturally, because they remove the trouble that made baby irritable and wakeful. On ‘this point Mrs.T.Watson, Sarsfield, Ont., says : have used Baby’s Own Tablets and find them a very valuable medicine for young childsen. When habv is cross or fretful I give her a Tablet, and it soon puts her right.” These tablets cure all the minor ailments of little ones. They are good Association was held on Wednesday last on Villas’ farm, Belvidiere. The day was an ideal one, and the attendance of spectators was very large and great interest was manifested in the work of the ploughmen. The president and directors are to he congratulated on the success which attended their efforts in organizing the first ploughing match, and nothing was left undone to being this about. The rules of the Association confined the entries to a certain boundary, but there is no doubt that later on these rules will be amended so as to allow others from without to enter. The entries numbered thirty-one, and included the young boy of twelve to that of the old man of seventy-six.All entered into the work with a spirit of enthusiasm, and although the ground was not the best suited for a plough-ing match ing match goo) work on the whole was done. The ploughing was judged by Mr.William Bell and Mr.A.K.Buchanan, Sherbrooke.Their task was no sinecure, and they gave entire satisfaction as was evidenced by the fact that not a single complaint was heard in connection with their awards. The horses were judged by Mr.A.M.Greenshields and Mr.E.Fitzgerald.The prizes were awarded as follows : should be for the attainment of happiness and to actumiplish thi purpose man must have some employment of mind and body—the enjoy ment of which leads to contentment and proper living. To this end what employment of man is more ideal than agriculture. If rightly entered into and consciously followed, it certainly leads to independence, and hence l^ip piness. The farmer is today the most independent man on earth His occu pat ion is at the foundation of manu facture and commerce and contributes by far the largest share to the nation’s wealth.Fanning nowadays is not the same as it used to be way back say in the fid’s, when the scythe, cradle and hand rake were the principal implements.Now- the mower takes the place of the scythe to lighten labor , the revolving rake in place of the hand rake, the reaper in place of the cradle ; the tread power in place of the flail. Now the separator, hand cutter, grain weigher and a hundred and one other new inventions are your help. The years have made a wonderful difference.Successful farming has been the secret and foundation of it all. When you are successful all the wheels of industry are kept in motion. When crops are a failure there is a lull in the factory .mercantile pursuits are depressed and trade in general is dull.We are all dependent on the fanner and it is because of this I feel gratified and honored by the privilege of saying a word of cheer to you given me by your president.Yours is a noble calling, gentlemen, requiring patience and intellect and industry. There are, true, hard, la‘ horous hours and long days before success comes, but in response to these things it comes at last—I am safe, I think, in saying.Times never were better for our farmers than they are today. The result of the preference in the English markets given to our products by the old country consumers is that our products arc going to England in enormously increasing quantities and our farmers are receiving prices which they never received before.Today Canadian butter, Canadian cheese, Canadian fruits, and Canadian flour are being asked for and searched for by the English consumer.Keep up the standard of your products by taking advantage of every thing that will help you in your chosen calling.(Applause.) The chairman called on the judge to say a fewr words.Mr.William Bell said that the ploughing done that day was very good and with a little more practice the ploughman in Belvidiere need not be afraid to go to any other matches.Mr.A.E.Buchanan referred to the good work done by the boys and advised the Association to lend every assistance to them at their future matches.Mr.Alex.Ames said that it gave him great pleasure to he present with the Belvidiere Association that evening as representing the Sherbrooke and Lennoxville Association. He looked upon Jhe Belvidiere Association as an offspring of the Association he belonged to, and he believed that the establishment of another would tend to help the older Association. He thought that the Belvidere Association should open its doors to all the county, hut ne supposed for this year they wanted to sec what they could do themselves before allowing all comers to enter. After a few remarks from Mr.Geo Armitage, a vote of thanks was awarded the President, Mr.W.S.Armitage and the secretary, Mr.Wheeler, and directors, and the meeting closed with the singing of God Save the King.Jackets & Capes § is When you go to the country take a bottle of or disease.Consumptives and those living with them must know that all precautionary measures are instituted in the interest» of the invalid as well as of his fellowmen. In factories, stores, railroad cars waiting rooms, &c., in short, wherever many people congregate, there should be a sufficient number of cuspidors well kept and regularly cleaned. If such measures are carried out their will be no excuse for any one to expectorate on the floor and thus endanger the lues of his fellow-men.The dangers from sputum are greater in the home or living room of the patient, than in the open air, for in the latter it is soon dried and the bacilli are rapidly killed by means of the sunlight.Speaking generally inhilation tuberculosis is a disease of young adult life although it may occur at all ages.Injestion tuberculosis, that is where the germs enter the body by eating tuberculosis food, Is a disease chiefly of childhood. The two greatest sources of infection are the sputum fronra tubercular patient and milk from an affected animal. The milk from cattle the subjects of tuberculosis of the internal organs and of the udder if consumed in the raw state is another source of infection but chiefly in children in whom until the 6th or 8th year it should form one of the chief articles of diet.To the injestine of milk Is no doubt to be ascribed all cases of intestinal tuberculosis and iiuercul-ar peritonitis that occur in children.Infection by milk is prevented by sterilizing or boiling it for at least a minute. As soon as tuberculosis cattle are rigidly excluded from the dairy there is no doubt that tlfere will be a great diminution in cases of abdominal tuberculosis in children. It is evident therefore from what has 1 een said of the sources of infection that they can be prevented. How far heredity conspires :n the production of tuberculosis it is impossible to say.Several members of a family the offspring of tubercular parents may exhibit the disease but this is no strong argument in favor of inheritance. If members of a family live together and die off successively, the family is constantly surrounded by infective material, the danger of which is not appreciated it may well he then that many cases of so called hereditary consumption are only cases of infected surroundings. It lias been estimated that tuber-culosis causes 2,000,000 deaths annually, that is nearly four per minute. In the U S.it kills nearly 150,-000 a year. When you consider that 300,000 died in the four years of the American civil war, you therefore see it is more fatal than a great war. What _ohe of us can say that we have neither a relative or friend who has tuberculosis. What one of us can he sure that we may not some time be affected. If we have not that spirit which will make us care for the health of our neighbors, we certainly have an interest in the provent ion of tuberculosis from the standpoint of selfishness. We may not realize it, but the interest in the prevention of this disease is universal. When we consider the great mortality from this disease, and that every one died because some previous case scattered infection.A patient in an advanced stage of consumption will cast off in his exjiectoration several million germs a day, you will readily see the importance of properly caring for and disposing of the sputum, and how necessary it is in all cases to observe the greatest care in ventilating the rooms occupied by a con-sumptive and carrying out all hygiene and sanitary measures.Houses after the death of a consumptive should he thoroughly disin-fected and fumigated as well as all furniture, clothing and personal effects. This is certainly a very dark pic.turc but if wc look upon Its other side we find it much brightened and hopeful. This disease which destroys so many lives and leaves in its wake so much suffering and sorrow is a preventable disease.Ordinary precautions on the part of the patient will make infection rare and painstaking care on his part will protect his attendant fully. To impress you with the difference between care and carelessness in dealing with the disease we might look at the difference between those in the tenements in a large city and that in the sanitoriums. The tenement houses stand for everything that is unclean and unsanitary while the sanitoria are examples of hygiene and sanitation carried to the highest pitch of excellence. The inmates of the former are ignorant of sanitary laws, careless in their personal hygiene. The inmates of the sanitoria on the other hand are taught to be cleanly in their habits, live in sanitary quarters ami are furnished with everything that is necessary to prevent the spread of the infection. As a result tenement houses are hot beds of infection while sanitoria are most desirable places in which to live.In the 4th and 6th wards in New York city, during the years 6891-5-6.rases of tuberculosis were reported in 38 per cent, of the dwellings and from 12 houses in this densely populated district 275 cases occurred in eight years. That means that these A Terrible Cough.Mrs.Thus.Carter, Northport, Ont.lays, “I caught a severe cold which settled in my throat and lungs, and my friends thought it would send me to my grave, when other remedies failed.Di.Wood's Norway Pine Syrup bouses were thoroughly saturated with the germs of the disease Now *.et us see bow the nurses and attendants who are intimately associated with tuberculous patient in the sanitoria fares. In the Brampton Hospital, London, 15,000 cases have been treated in the last 20 years yet neither a nurse or an attendant has become affected, the same is the case with the sanitorium in the Adiron-dacks.These examples teach us two important truths.( 1 ) Tenement houses shows that the disease can be communicated from one person to another.(2) Sanitoria teaches us that tuberculosis is not a contagious disease in the ordinary sense in which that word is used and that the sick and the well may associate intimately together without infection taking place provided the necessary care is taken. In other words tuberculosis can he prevented. This, in brief, is the statement of facts as we find them. What is to be done ?In the first place public opinion must be aroused. No great movement can go ahead of public opinion.Tuberculosis is so common that the aid of society as a whole is necessary in order to check its ravages. The public must be made to understand that the enormous death rate and the indescribable sufferings which are caused by this disease are unnecessary and that they are caused by a disease that is preventable. The fact that it can be communicated from one to another must 1 e taught, while teaching these truths we must be careful not to create unnecessary alarm. The tubercular patient must not be treated as a leper. There is no danger in associating him if he is careful. He should he instructed how to destroy his sputum and when this taken away, is done the danger of infection is It is claimed that fifty per cent, of those who are afflicted can be cured when treated early, then the public conscience should be aroused to its duty to see that those who are afflicted are given the opportunity to get well.Every case that is prevented from reaching the advanced stage and every case that has already reached it and has been properly cared for is a step in the ultimate eradication of the disease. While we are teaching the people how to prevent the spread of the germs that cause tuberculosis let us not forget that it is equally important to teach the necessity of living natural lives with a generous supply of sunlight in our homes and surrounded by fresh air day and night. The principles of hygiene and sanitation must be our guides to good health. If a child eats ravenously, grinds the teeth at night and picks its nose, you may lie almost certain it has worms and should administer without delay Dr.Low’s Pleasant Worm Syrup, this remedy contains its own cathartic.DEMAND FOR TURKEYS.Canadian farmers who have tu»leys to export can look for good prices this winter in the English market. This is made clear in a letter which the Department of Trade and Commerce, Ottawa, received from Lord Strathcona. His Lordship encloses a communication from Messrs.G.E.Brook & Sons, of Leadenhall Market, wherein they state that they learn that Canadian turkeys will be scarce this year in London for the Christmas market, and, in view of the general appearance of high prices, they suggest that it w?ould he to the advantage of Canadian dealers to ship a fair quantity.Prices for English turkeys, they say, will undoubtedly reach very high figures.CANADA POSTAGE STAMP.The Pall Mall Gazette says the newr Canadian postage stamp is a much more artistic production than we have the privilege of sticking on our daily letters. The presentment of the King’s portrait gives the youth of the Dominion a far better idea of the Imperial ruler than the decapitated head which floats in space on the British stamp.Minard’s Liniment for sale everywhere.HAD A BIG PULL.The Manchester Mirror had the following in a recent number.Joe Lefebvre came to town recently from the back woods in Canada.“Hullo, Joe,” said his friend, Jules.“Where you been ?” “I been cutting trees in the woods,” said Joe.“That so ?” said Jules.“Anything new ?** asked Joe.“Not much, 1 guess,” replied Jules.“You know’ Queen Victoria’s dead.” “No ; is he ?” said Joe.“Who’s got his job ?” “The Prince of Wales,” said Jules.“Has she?” said Joe.“She must have had a hell of a pull on Laurier.” MELBOURNE.completely cured me.* Mr.Arthur Armstrong, of Portland, Me., was the guest of Mr.Gordon Ames over Sunday.Mr.William McDowell, of Melboro, has sold his farm to Mr.Biers, of South that there was less smoke ; that the chimney did not foul so quickly, the salt apparently decomposing the soot as it was deposited , that less ashes were made ; that a poker was unnecessary, as the fire required no stirring, but always remained bright and clear, and burned to the last fragment of fuel. This may be considered additional evidence as to the advantages to be expected from the proposed “under water storage of coal,** in which experiments are now l*eing made by the Admiralty. In the case referred to, however, the coal was not submerged, only the quantity required daily being sprinkled generously with the mixture of course sail and water about twelve hours before it was wanted. This would appear to show that the salt had more to do with the improvement in the burning of the coal than the water, the latter only being required to dissolve the salt ami to cause it to adhere to the surfaces of the coal.Such a process may le advantageous for coal to be used for domestic purposes, but for the storage of coal for lengthened periods in hot climates only submergence can be of any practical use.It is exclusion of the atmosphere that is necessary in the latter case, and this can be attained by the complete and deep immersion.Whether in the tanks in which the coal will have to be placed, it may be advantageous to increase the normal saltness of sea water by adding a certain amount of salt to it, is a question which may weU be worthy of practical determination.Um> Big 4* for unnatartl du* h*ri:««.ia&*iuu4»iioa«.irm*tioo« or ulcorttioti* of iu h r o h ¦ OJeaibraoM PainlM*.and ooi aatria* g*Bl or pouoaou* «•M b7 Drttcvtota.or Mat in pi*m wrappor.bj r&praa*.prepaid, for •I uo.or 3 boitlre 9:' 75.Circular gaut cm ra^uaai.Phenomenal Herolniemt **How to Cure All the Skin Dieeanen* Simply apply ‘‘Swaynk’s Ointmknt. No internal medicine required.Cures tetter, eczema itch, all eruptions on the face, hands, none, Sec., leaving the skin clear, white and healthy.IU* great healing and curative powersare possessed by no other remedy.A*k your druggist for Swaynk’s Ointmkn" SCOTLANDS MINERAL HAR VEST.It is virtually true to say of Scotland that there is greater wealth under than above ground. At the present time there are 530 mines in full working order, employing 108,000 persons, or several thousands more than the populations of Greenock and Kirkr caldy put together, and that, too, quite apart from 100 quarries which give employment to some 14,000 It is interesting to note that of this vast army ofNvorkers 1800 are girls —employed, however, exclusively at the pithead, and that over 6,000 are youths between the ages of 12 and 16.Of course the black diamond is far and away Scotland’s leading mineral, and the value of Scottich coal exported alone exceeds 3£ million sterling.Kirkcaldy is easily the largest coal exporting centre, with an annual output of 2,244,000 tons, against Grangemouth’s 1,366,000 and Glasgow’s 1,211,000.Altogether 362 million tons of minerals are every year dug out of the country of which 2£ millions are oil shale. One LAXA-LIVER PILL every night for thirty days makes a complete cure of biliousness and constipation. That is—just 25 cents to be cured. The following story of the Pope is told in the Italian papers : A deputation of the monks of some order had obtained an interview with him.According to the etiquette of the Vatican, only Cardinals are allowed to sit in the Pope’s presence, and an invitation from him to do so is deemed equivalent to the promise of a car-dinalate.Pope Pius X.is a plain man, utterly indifferent to the etiquette of the Papal Court. He, therefore, begged the monks to be seated. They hardly knew whether they could venture to do so, and while they stood hesitating, he said to them : “You do not, I suppose, expect me to draw your chairs forward for you ?” ?Deranged Nerves AND Weak Spells.Mr.R.H.Sampson’s,Sydney,N.S., Advice to all Sufferers from Nerve Trouble is ic GET A BOX OF MILBURN’S HEART AND NERVE PILLS.” He fuiy« î “I have been ailing for about a year from deranged nerves, and very often weak spells would c ome over me and be so bad that I sometimes thought I would be unable to survive them.I have been treated bv doctors and have taken numerous preparations but none of them helped me in the least.I finally got a box of Milburn s Heart and Nerve Pills. Before taking them I did not feel able* to do any work, but now I can work as well as ever, thanks to one box of your pills. They have made a new man of me, and my advice to iny person troubl d as I was, is to get a box of Mdburn’s Heart and Nerve Pills." the service of buses had to be trebled and quadrupled on all roads converging to the above-named focus of fashion; extra droits of police were hastily telephoned for from outlying districts; and by four o’clock the crush was so immense In this particular quarter that all traffic and circulation was impossible.Things began to ik ugly, and the crowd was getting out of hand, when the new Commissioner of Police, Mr.E.Richard Henry, thought it advisable to summon the military.Six Army Corps promptly arrived in as many motors, with Mr.Brodrick at their head.By degrees a lane was mode to the cen ter of attraction, after the Riot Act had been read and a volley of blank cl targe fired. The cause of the disturbance was then ascertained and located by a picked body, numbering some hundreds, of interviewers and photographers, and led by Mr.Punch’s own special representative at the seat of war.It was a bustle of the early eighties wTom (slightly on the right) by a pro possessing and very self-possessed young lady of some twenty springs.Such a heroine had not been seen since the days of Grace Darling, and special editions recording the progress of the affair were issued until late at night. All fashiondom had been rocked ti its foundation.Dressmakers were aghast at the audacity of the incident, whih their clients, who had just purchased what they supposed to be latest cos tomes, were in despair.Further details must be looked foi elsewhere, as Mr.Punch’s young man fainted with emotion on beinir presen* at such a portentous scene.—“Punch.” HAGYARD’S YELLOW OIL cures sprains, bruises, sores, wounds, cuts, frostbites, chilblains, stings of insects, burns, scalds, contusions, etc.Price 25c.Who loves champagne, soubrettes, and oong Is wise, or else the proverb’s wrong; and a policeman arrested her.Miss Russell, in her defence, said that she was wearing a new and particularly handsome silk petticoat, and other “things’* equally new and squally handsome, and that she held her skirt just high enough to prevent them from l»eing muddied, but not an inch higher. To clinch the mat ter, she had come dressed in the identi cal clothes, and was ready, if the judge deaired.to give a demonstration in court The judge, of course, jumped at it; began to fall yesterday morning and the majority of peo* pie in the city and country were congratulating themselves that the water situation would be relieved, but as the clay advanced it became colder and snow began to fall, and by evening the weather had a very win-tery appearance, with a good touch of frost. This morning there was not much change in the temperature and snow was again falling. The rain that has fallen will not be of much benefit to the rivers and springs so long as the frost continues, and unless mild weather sets in soon the situation will be indeed serious. This morning the water in the pond was lower than at any time yet during the season.Realizing the serious state of affairs so far as the domestic supply of w’ater is concerned.Mayor Far-well and Councillor Olivier, chairman of the Water Committee, called upon the proprietors of the various industries on the Magog River on Wednesday afternoon, to see if some solution of the situation to give the city sufficient water at the pump station could be arrived at.The Mayor stated yesterday that they were trying to arrange with Messrs.D.G.Lomas & Sons to instal a dynamo to run their sash and door factory, so as to give the city the full benefit of the water at the dam atthc pump station, the former company and the city having equal rights to the water there.Mayor Farwell also placed himself in communication with the officials of the G.T.R.to see if they could not arrange to water their engines at Richmond and Waterville, and thus relieve the strain on the pumps here. The officials at Montreal replied that they would give instructions to have this done. The railway companies require about 125,000 gallons of water a day, and as the pumps are only able to supply about 1,250.000 gallons a day as compared with 2,000,-000 when everything is in running or- Effect of Treaty-Making Power.LONDON DAILY NEWS DIS CUSSES THE QUESTION.The London Daily News, referring to the Ala&kan decision and the feeling in Canada, says : “Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who has been the favorite premier of the Imperialists, will soon liegin to take the place vacated by Paul Kruger.Suppose Sir Wil frid Laurier’s demand for the treaty making power really took shape and swept Canada off its feet.Would the prospect be so dreadful ?It would be, after all, only one more step in the long process—not of separation, but of detachment, question to the tender mercies of have had to hand over the Alaska quwstion to the tender mercies of Lord Alverstone, an admirable judge, but a notorious political partisan.Canada very distinctly told us she holds herself free to help us in any Imperial quarrel. We should have to say the same to Canada. If we thought her right we should lend her the arm of the Empire, if not we should just warn her and then hold aloof. What if history should one day repeat itself in another form ?” whole city of Sherbrooke, and act accordingly.Mayor Farwell*» charges of incapa-ity and ignorance against the majority, if true, is very unfortunate ; the formulating of such a charge by Mayor Farwell is more of an insult and reflection upon the ratepayers whom they represent than any fault of theirs, and is, in my opinion, unfounded, and should he beneath the dignity of the civic chair. Now, with regard to Mayor Far-w ell’s portent ious and ponderous document, l have only to say that if the extent of the area of space covered, and the gross weight of paper and ink used, he considered an argu ment, Mayor Farwell is not only entitled to the proverbial prize “cake,’ but I would say he should be award ed the whole bakeshop and contents.Mayor Farwell’s voluminous document, and the pretended facts there in, are not worthy of credence, as the said s ta renient of facts emanates from the G.W.Co’s, office in this city, and is no more reliable than a similar list which appeared in the press of this city on the J3th January last, during the heat of the elec-tiyon campaign, when the G.W Co.quoted rates for electric light for the city of Brockville.I sent a copy of the Daily Record of that date to the city clerk of Brockville asking him for his version of said item, and I herewith submit an extract from his reply, which speaks for itself, and is more eloquent and convincing than anything I could add : Brockvill.e January J6, 1903 About two weeks ago I received a communication from Sherbrooke ask ing for information about our plant I wrote to Mr.Robins at considerable length on the subject, but would think from the copy of item sent me by Mr.McManamy that fully ninety per cent, of my iVply had been suppressed.* * * * You can form your own opinion as to the in formation which has been furnished to your papers and the object.* * * (Signed) W.H.DOWSLEY, Secretary-Treasurer.Now, in conclusion, what does Mayor Farwell’s document prove. If it proves anything, it proves that where political and other outside in fluence preponderate in the management, that success in municipal own ership is in danger. We do not need to leave home to get positive proof of outside influence dictating and controlling actions of some of our city councillors.Yours truly, D.McMANAMY Use Zutoo Tablets to break up a cold. They will certainly cure the aches and pains arising from a cold and grippe.25c.Mr.McManamy Replies to Mayor Farwell. To the Editor of the Examiner : Dear Sir,—In reply to Mayor Far-well’s epistle of the 31st ult., I desire to state that I have no personal quarrel with Mayor Farwell, that I am quite willing that this epistle of his should be taken as a whole, and stand on its merits before the public, and to be considered as characteristic of the actions of its author in the civic chair.Mayor Farwell has chosen as his policy opposition to Municipal Ownership, and his actions in this connection have sometimes been forcible and aggressive, and that is why, at times, I have objected to his ruling. After Years at Much Distress Mr, W.F.Kennedy Has Been Restored to a Life of Activity. There is probably no man in the township of Pelham, Welland County, better known than Mr.Wilbur F.Kennedy.He is a prosperous farmer and the owner of a large cooperage, and is held in the highest esteem by all who have his acquaintance.Mr.Kennedy is now seventy-two years of age, and is active and rugger as many a man years younger. For years, however, he was a great sufferer from kidney trouble and he cheerfully gave credit for his present good health to the use of Dr.Williams’ Pink Pills.Mr.Kennedy says : Ten years ago, as the result of exposure, I think, I was stricken with kidney and bladder trouble in a severe form. The complaint at times caused me most intense suffering and great personal discomfort as I would often have to arise a dozen times in the night.I tried many kinds of treatment and some of the best physicians.but their skilled efforts were unavailing, and as a result I lost in flesh, grew very weak, and was troubled also with insomnia.I grew despondent and felt that I was doomed to a life of suffering, if not an early death. At this stage I was prevailed upon to give Dr.Williams’ Pink Pills a trial After using four boxes I could see a distinct improvement in my condition, and I gladly continued the use of the pills, until all the symptoms of the trouble had passed away, and I was again strong and healthy. It is no exaggeration to say that at the time I began the use of Dr.Williams’ Pink Pills I was so weak that I could not lift twenty-five pounds, while now I am quite sure I can lift as much as any man of my age.I believe the pills not only released me of the misery I suffered, hut have added years to my life.” Anaemia, rheumatism, kidney trouble, heart ailments, partial paralysis, St.Vitus Dance, and the many ailments peculiar to women are speedily cured by Dr.Williams’ Pink Pills, simply because these pills make new, rich, red blood, and thus reach the very root of the trouble. There are pink colored imitations of this great medicine, but the buyer can protect himself against these impositions by seeing that the full name “Dr.Williams’ Pink Pille for Pale People” is printed on the wrapper around every box.Sold by all dealers in medicine or direct by mail from the Dr.Williams’ Medicine Co., Brockville, Ont., at 50 cents a box, or six boxes for $2.50.Mr.F.H.Clergue, now in London with Senator Dandurand, says Canada is to know" first of developments regarding Soo works.7/ Mayor Farwell charges the majority der, it will be seen that this
