the vice-president, Mrs.J.M.Elam, of Ayer’s Cliff, acting as secretary in the absence of Mrs.G.Kezar.The.treasurer’s report showed a balance of $66.64 on hand.Mrs.A.E.Fish reported having secured tables of uniform size for the canning exhibit at the fall fairs, and a gift from the Agricultural Society of $50 for prizes. The exhibit of old-fashioned articles was found impossible to be carried out this year, and the matter was laid over until next year.A letter from Dr.Shearer, secretary cf the “Social Service Council of Canada,” was diseased, and it was decided to hold a social service convention at Ayer’s Cliff on the afteînqon and evening of October 19th.The county conveners were asked to give reports.Mrs.W.R.Rex-ford, of Ayer’s Cliff, convenor of higher education and better schools, offered several good suggestions for her department. An appleal was read from Miss Bond, of Stanstead, for an improvement of the horticultural exhibits at the county fair. After a short address from the president, Miss Roach, of Macdonald College, was given a hearty reception and listened to with interest.Miss Roach spoke in appreciation of the Stanstead County executive meeting and the special efforts most of the ladies make to be present.“Quebec province so for shows no definite news of what is going on through magazines or daily press. We must have publicity and this must begin with the local publicity convener. We are sending to about thirteen publications now, and one paper has asked for enough matter to make two pages of institute work.We must appreciate the fact that co-operation counts. The annual reports should be more fully given.Even matters discussed should be reported. We hardly give ourselves credit for what work we have done or that we are intending to undertake. Our motto should be: “Even if I am only one, I will do what I can,” and each one doing that means wonders for the province.” Miss Roach asked for more interest in the cooking exhibit. It would add greatly to the success of the fair, and in a small way show appreciation of the large space given the institute in the main building. She also requested the members to consider helping the Industrial Home for girls recently opened in Sweetsburg. The girl» call for our sympathy and a little personal attention, possibly a box at Christmas, and any influence we may have that will help them,” said Miss Roach. She spoke in highest terms of Dr.Shearer and Mrs.Muldrew, of Ottawa, who will be a speaker at the Social Service convention.Miss Roach gave the Women’s Institute credit for encouraging boys and girls to attend Macdonald College, and this year more young people are entering to train for teaching than ever before.“It is possible and a worthy object for an institlte to advance money to girls who are unable to pay for their tuition.Macdonald College is really the servant of the people, and the people are not taking advantage of all that servant can do.Why not send club orders there for bulbs and roots. It is a great opportunity of securing the best at low prices.” To the places having a movie machine, Miss Roach pointed out the excellent pictures of Canada and of every branch in agriculture that could be obtained from the department in Ottawa ; also pictures on child welfare. She urged the members to attend the meeting and take their best ideas, not go with the selfish object of obtaining merely what others brought. The work this year all around has been most satisfactory, and the rasults astounding. There are now seventy branches, and an organizing campaign is about to be launched by Miss Roch.A delightful luncheon was provided by the ladies of Way’s Mills, and an invitation received from the institute at Beebe to hold the next county executive in that place.HOT WEATHER SAPS VITALITY Ironized Yeast Will Restore It Quickly Do you feel all “dragged out”?-Can’t sleep?Appetite poor?Does ordinary mental or physical exertion leave you exhausted?Do you wake up feeling “all in”?These are dangerous symptoms. For they indicate that the heat is sapping your energy, strength and resistance, and leaving you easy prey for all sorts of sickness. The thing to do, if you want to overcome fatigue, and build energy at once—is to take two Ironized Yeast tablets with each meal. Then ! watch the results. Before you know' it that exhausted feeling will have completely disappeared. You will be able to tackle all kinds of hard work —and actually enjoy it.You will be amazed at the wonderful change I it will bring.Get it today. To try Ironized Yeast absolutely free simply mail postcard for Famous 3-Day Test.Address Harold F.Ritchie & Co., Ltd., Dept.94, Toronto.Ironized Yeast is recommended and guaranteed bv all good dealers.COMPTON CO.BABY WELFARE CONTEST RULES Will Be Held During the Fair at Cookshire, Under Auspices of W.C.T.U.COOKSHIRE, August 18.—The rules and regulations of the Compton County Baby Welfare Compe-! tition, in charge of a committee of i the local branch of the W.C.T.U., j have now been drawn up and are ! ready for publication. This contest! ! takes place on the second day of] ! the Cookshire Exhibition, Septem-i ber 13.The judging, together with! expert advice, will be from 10 o’clock to 5 o’clock (standard time).!
