influenced by the opposition to extensive estates and parks inf nortfiern New York and the Adirondack Mountains. The great fence, reptrain moose, elk, deer and wild boars, was a difficult thing \u201cto maintain, and game wardens were compelled to patrol it throughout the day. From time to time moose have escaped, and in the last few months much of the fence was destroyed by.falling trees, which had been ruined in the forest fires. The vegetation in a very considerable portion of the enclosure was ruined by the flames, and game found it difficult to get enough to eat.Extensive lumbering operations are also carried on in the park at thisstime, and all trees touched by the flames will be marketed.Under the circumstances Dr.Webb concluded to release the herds of elk, moose, deer, etc,
