Taxes, $374.63; Interest on mortgage of $8,600 at 63%, $559; Upkeep and repairs, $161.72; Interest on money invested ($6,400 at] (14%).$416; Total, $1,541.35.Income from the duplex was set down as $1,590, leaving the balance of $48.65.Obviously, the proper method of calculating income on the £15,000 duplex, yielding revenue of $1,590 would be as follows: Fxpenses: Insurance, $30.00; Taxes, $374.63; Repairs and upkeep, $161.72; Total, $566.35.This leaves a balance of $1, 023.65 or 7%.on the money invested. It is foolish to expect the tenant to pay a good rent and also the interest on'the money borrowéd to purchdsé the property: and then on top of all that to set down interest bn investment as “expenses”.However, 7% is not unrcasonable, and if all local landlords rented their properties on like terms there would be no kick coming. It is the owners of large apartment houses’ who are fo be censured for charging exorbitant rentals. The profits which these men have been making are this year enhanced by a {ull 25% due to the increased purchasing power of the dollar.“To Let” Signs Go Up The “To Let” sign made its annual re-appearance throughout TO THE LUCKY WINNERS “on Saturday evening in the Mac- tion for play in MIXED Mr.Percy French the city this week, and the North End, being largely a ; and.in the event of their success next week, which will finally decide for the play-offs, abounding hope is in store for them.A slight change in their line-up did not scem to affect their chances this week when they defeated the Con- cordias 2-0.Concordias seemed to be in better form, and it is only regretted that they did not show quite the - same resistance earlier in the scason.Their neat combinations frequently convirted the Rangers defencemen into dangerous mix-ups, that offered McPhee a gruelling time to watch his ness.Annett persisted in playing a brilliant game on the wing, and apart from being a scorer this week, served the Concordia goalie an ample supply of uplifing shots, which closely skimmed the posts on numerous occasions.Kearns was out with the right stulf this week, and almost thought he scored a real goal, until the ref” whistle called an off-side—~Apparently he saw that one, Cons.Strong Defence Batson stick-handled his through from his own blue line and bombarded the Concordia goals with many fast drives.Roseman intercepted many a pass which was carried through the Concordia stronghold to measure the goals, but Lacoste and Lafontainz always stiffened his chances. Both defencemen played à very ingratiating game up to the final half of the third period.Checking and slugging had gone beyond its way average application and fistic displays were beginning do reach a climax.Rangers continued to press the Concordia team timely for a goal, until Annett swung in front of the Concordia net after an assist from Hayes to make the first counter.A few minutes later and the Con- cortia team dashed into furious defensive playing, which had been actuated more so by the speady Rangers forward line.H.Claxton brought many short breaths to spectators, as he swooped down upon the almost conquered team, and drove c¢leadily and offoctively: The Corcordia team did not long last the desperat: attacks of the invading team, and it was not long after that they had only two men on the ice, whilst Rangers had three.Lafontaine tried vainly to kop the disc from his end of the ice by shooting it afar down the sideboards.Roscman was next to courtier after he swerved through the Concordia duo left on tho ice, and outguessed Dussault.‘Rangers kept the score in their favor for the rest of the game, with Concordia still putting up a gam battle for a geal.Heavyweights Meet Two heavy-manned teams representing Invaders and Papineau met in a hard, fast-played gamez this week, but Invaders emcrged the winners’ with three goals in their favor, as against nil, for Papirzau.‘The Alarie and Colvey cumbina- tions this weck, worked out in’ singular rapidity.Ernic Alarie made the fiest tally for his tzam in the accond period, amd it all appeared from that time, that Papincau just could not inject enough stamina in theif play to outwin Invaders.G.Durocher worked his way into many close plays, and shot Tho ras a few good fast ones, G.Durocher wakchad his wing, and , slipped many.fine passes to Alarie.Doran insisted upon tactics of his own, in-defendisg his line, and à few dtxerrad pendities wete meted to him.Mulcair bad little to Wcupy' bif- amc.ud “ [se with in the last session, having {only on three occasions stopped low { bound shots that were sent from } Robert.Cardinal made many fruitless i ventures through to centre, but never | once passed by Alarie for a shot.| Ernie Alarie sharply raised the score for his team again, dashing clean through, and sending home a swift gross shot, which gained the ; corner of the nets.! B.Colvey was next in line with l another tally, searcely two minutes after Alarie planted his sacond one, and the marker changed to a three.Invaders had played a swift gamz, that was doubly wictorious by the combined aggressivenvss of their whole team.T.Higgins and J.Vad:boncouer raferces for the games apparently got a little more pleasure out of this week's tilts, since they made no complaints other than that it was rather chilly. The teams wcre:— Rangers (2) t Concordia (0) Goal McPhee .Lo.Dussault !
