death.According to medico-legal expert Dr.Jean-Parent Vaicourt, the baby had been struck at least six times, the blows resulting in skull fracture and cerebrae hemmorhage.Westmount Det.-Lieut.Adolf Jones, who conducted the investigation with Det.-Sgt.L.Lauzon, testified that on November 5, Wilson made a statement in which he claimed to have struck the baby twice with.a plastic bottle.Dr.Valcourt government J.Richard Hyde took his birthday victory in his stride. He did not consider his re-election, for his third term as Liberal MPP for Westmount-St.George, a personal victory. It was, he said, an enthusiastic expression of confidence of the Quebec people for the tremendous Liberal Leader, Jean Lesage. On Thursday, November 15, Mr.Hyde marked his 50th birthday.Speaker of the last Legislative Assembly.Mr.Hyde’s election was conceded by his two opponents early Wednesday evening when returns indicated his majority would be substantial. He won by a majority of 8,942 votes.Richard B.Holden, 31-year- old lawyer, who opposed Mr.Hyde as an Anti-Nationalization Independent, and National Union candidate Jacques Loranger.took defeat calmly and with big smiles congratulated the winner, His role was not easy Mr.Holden said the election had been good experience both for himself and.his workers, He admitted the feeling against nationalization was not what he had anticipated. He said people want ta vote for a party rather .than an independent candidate. He found his independent role not an easy one.Looks like "slight" Liberal trend When the general returns across the province were rolling in and return of the government was assured, one of Mr.Hyde's supporters gave out the understatement of the evening at Victoria Hall, He said “It looks like a slight Liberal trend.Voters of Quebec Province returned the Liberal Government with 63 seats, compared with 54 in the last House.National Union dropped nine seats, from 40 in the last House to 31 elected Wednesday. One independent was elected creating no change in this standing from the 1960 election. The Liberals took 1,118,766 votes or 56.4 per cent; National Union 838,051 or 42.2 per cent, .|others because of the money (though the profits could well be huge) but because he was by new pining for excitement and adventure. It was with a light heart that he left the Thames on February 27, 1696, with hte good will of the whole country behind him.No one dreamed then that he was to return in chains to end his days on the tide-washed gibbet at Execution Dock .The appearance of the Adventure Galley, with her 34 guns, hard-bitten crew, and almost legendary commander, spread a wave of terror across the Indian seas.Pirates disappeared overnight: not a single skull-and- crossbones was to be seen from one side of the ocean to the other, And as month after month went by without even a hint of actoin, Kidd and his men began to feel anxious. For they were net being paid ! Under Kid's agreement with his sponsors, he and his crew were only to receive a share of what they won from the pirates.Worse, if Kidd did not take enough prizes to repay the investors in full he would himself become responsible for covering their losses.Al this, and never a sail in sight ! The men became mutinous.Inevitably.Kidd was forced to yield to the clamour of his angry crew — and the Adventure Galley turned pirate.OUTLAW NO.1 Prizes came thick and fast.Kidd was even more successful under the Jolly Roger than he had been under the flag of his own merchantmen, and once he forsook the law he never looked back.Within two years he was proclaimed by Parliament as Outlaw No.1, and during the following year — 1699 — a squadron was sent out specially to capture him.Fer a few months longer he successfully ran the gauntlet, plundering and burning, both ashore and afloat, until at length even he realised that the game was up.On July 2.1699, he sailed inte the harbour at Besten, Massachusetts and surrendered himself to the Governor — hoping ne doubt, by this course : (Continued on page 6) A new locomotive fireman, just hired, was watching his side of the track as o yord engine wos switching a string of empty boxcars around o curve."See onybody back there ?" the hogger osked."Yeoh," said the rookie, spying a switchmon, "there's a guy on top of a cor waving his arms like a bird.Looks like he's going to fly." Just then the cut of cors rommed into another string of.cars with a terrific impact, "Yep," said the firemen, "there he goes I + # we" YOUNG THESPIANS: excellent cast, including Walter Aube, Ann Fuerstenberg, Linda Dodge, Talent parade invited ~ fo US.A.Rotary Convention "The Unity Boys' Club Talent Appearing in the production Hall, two Saturday afternoons, November 17 and 24, an excellent talent group from the St.Laurent studio of the Children's Theatre, di rected by Dorothy Davis and Violet Walters, by 12-year-old Arlene Snadler, St.Laurent, who has shown great promise as a character actress.Hana Gartner, another very talented young player, will be seen as Meg.and Esther Riva Levine as Hannah, both from Chomedey, are supported by an Roslyn Penn, Judy Friedman, Beverly Light, Frances Ravinsky, Linda Kaplan, Sandra Smith, Gloria Green, Peter Jobin, Walter Wakefield, Howard Ryshpan.Marlene Worsoff.| By MAURICE MARIASINE Parade, Unity's travelling variety group.have a heavy schedule of and December 16th, a: the Annual Leading character role is performed | Sincere Thanks .To you, my electors and supporters, for re-electing me as your member of the Provincial Parliament.| shall continue to do all in my power to deserve the encouragement and confidence which you have so overwhelmingly shown to me.J.RICHARD HYDE Member of Proviacial - Parliament for Westmount — St.George “Little Women” in Victoria and 28th the former on the Tuesday and the latter on the Wednesday.S 7961 ‘91 "AON ‘Aopud ‘JauIwinxy JUNOUNSIM BY) are ty aga NS.bookings for the months of Nov-, Christmas Party of the Canadair Arrangements have been com-, ! ember and December.' the subsequent publicity given to the need for motorists to ascertain the quality of the belts they buy, may in the long run, result in greater care being given by purchasers to belt quality. It was unfortunate, Mr.Bryce said, that this had to come about by publication and broadcast of inadequate information which seriously distorted the motorists’ viewpoint in relation to seat belts and disrupted a new and legitimate Canadian industry.“We feel sure,” he said, “that the motorist will recognize the inadequacy of the information contained in the original item and the fact that seat belts identified as SAE or CSA certified are reliable and safe and will prevent death and injury in traffic accidents to a great extent.” Westmount's remembrance tribute Heads bowed at Westmount War Memorial, Sunday, November 11, during the City of West- mount Commemoration Service, Captain the Rev.J.N.Doidge, BA, LTh, chaplain of the Rayal Montreal Regiment conducted the service.Music was by the band of the Royal Montreal Regiment.Wreaths were placed by City of Westmount, military units, ladies’ committees, civic bodies and societies and private individuals.Hymn, Abide With Me, was sung.Following the Last Post, two minutes silence was observed.Reveille sounded and the National Anthem brought the service to a close. The parade March Past saluting base was at the intersection of Cote St.Antoine Road (north side) and Stanton street.Due to the late arrival of bus transportation from St.Anne de Bellevue Military Hospital, the parade schedule was delayed.BIG DEMANDS Il would be easter for either of the traditionally strong Canadian parties to follow strong principles of financing of social welfare or economic planning if they were not pushed continuously into greater give-away programs by a large block of voters ., interested only in what they can get from their country.— Salmon Arm (B.C.) Bill Smith ent or teacher might use in explaining the history of music to a beginner, For the teacher, librarian, music student and serious collector of records, there are still other features that are very important. For example, examination of the card inserted in each record will reveal that every record in the Chronicle of Music is registered with the Library of Congress, and this card gives the owner of the record a perfect filing system. The physical format of the card is planned so the file card can be removed and the remaining part can be inserted in a standard 9 x 11 notebook to become a part of a growing wealth of musical knowledge. Thus the Chronicle of Music is a history which through the printed word and an ever- growing library of recordings, will give its owner a concise picture of the development of music in western culture and at the same time, an expanding collection of records which will further enhance his knowledge and enjoyment of the art.CHART OF THE PIONEER {Two for brilliont stereo) “Bookshelf” Wi-Fi Speakers FRICKE | 9/2" |* 35:00 3 44.0 .Level control; MODEL | SFEAKERS | LENGTA| MEIGHT | DEPTH | CS-6A evra.19" 11" CS-8A wl Mitic [20%] 13" | 11" Cs-88 Lewin 23 | 12 | 10" CS-12A Bucitiex [930 » 51," 10a" 109-00 $ 5 1-00 ALL HAND-RUBBED FINISH — AVAILABLE FROM STOCK PAYETTE RADIO 730 ST.JAMES ST.WEST NEAR UNIVERSITY / MOVE WITH AV.8-7211 .AGENTS FOR ALLIED VAN LINES organ’s By popular demand .CFCF-FM continues to expand its Stereo Multiplex schedule Hear these programs of "Fine Music" Il a.m.- 12 noon 3.30 p.m.to 4.30 p.m.8 p.m.to | a.m, "Soundstage" “Bridge to Dreamland" Hear Lee Dunbar's Startime — 12 to 5 p.m.Sunday at 92.5 mcs."CF Startime!" "Milk and Honey” The trend in music is to MARCONI RADIO "The Best of Two Worlds" 92.5 mcs FM Moving Abroad?GET A MOVE ON WITH MORGAN'S!
