LONDON, 27 —Last night was an extremely anxious time in King Edward's sick room, but toward dawn the symptoms improved and became distinctly better as the day advanced.Pain in the wound developed at eight o'clock in the evening, and caused concern for some hours. The King alept only intermittently.his temperature rose slightly, and the general aspect of the case was disquieting. However, an examination made by all the surgeons at nine this mc-ning showed that the unfavourable symptoms had at least temporarily disappeared and reheved the apprehension of septic complications. While the surgeons at the King's bedside still regard the state of their patient with uy eration the reversal of existing tendencies, it will be possible to indulge in & reasonable expectation of recovery.Experts studying the case through the medium of the bulletins and private advices of their colleagues in the sick room, generally believe that the situation still embodies practically all the serious elements that first attached to it: but they admit that if the absence of septic poisoning continues a little longer the King's chances are good.Sunday or Monday is usually named as the date when the abiding prevalence of favourable symptoms will justify confidence in a favourable issue.Rumours of the approaching necessity of a second operation appear without warrant, and it may be taken as certain that no such necessity is foreseen some anxiety, they hold that the moment is not far distant, when, putting out of consla- by Lister and Treves this afternoon.Colonial Ministers | Confer With Chamberlain (Special by Cable from the Special Corres pondent of the Montreal Star in London.) NEW YORK, June 27.—The correspond- cot of the New York Herald in Londo cables: LONDON, June 27.—From an ap tly authontative statement I learn that the King's trouble probably originated from a late supper which His Majesty partook of, after a fatiguing day.on Friday, June 13, when he attended the long court. On the following day he complained of abdominal pains and was seen by Sir Francis Laking. In the afternoon he was feeling much better. He left for Aldershot, but a recurrence of the trouble necessitated the presence of Sir Francis Laking, by whose advice.under circumstances already well known, His Majesty returned to Windsor. On Wednesday.June 18, the first symptoms of perityphlitis showed themselves, These again disappeared, King's health continued to improve until Monday evening, when His Majesty journeyed to London. There was then an exacerbation of the symptoms and the operation was inevitable.'
