additional 300 pints were expected at the clinic held at the Montreal Cottons on Tuesday organisors are delighted with the results and expect to go well over their objective of 650 pints.All in ail there was an excellent \u201cflow of blood\u201d at the beginning of this week in Valleytield and figures indicate an almost 50 percent improvement over last year.Asked what he thought the reasons for the success of the Mayor's clinic were Mr.Frank Smith, chairman of the Blood Donors Clinie told the Sun that he had nothing but praise and appreciation for Mayor Cauchon and his aldermen who were present at the clinic all day and actually used \u201c\u2018electioneering\u201d tactics in getting people from their areas to come and give blood ., they phoned residents in their wards and asked them to give support, in many cases free transportation was provided.Praise is also in order to radio station CFLV.Announcers were on the pob all day interviewing and-talking tosofficials and blood dôfiors, right at the clinie.Others who worked untiringly for the success of the clinic were Mr.Henri Brassard, president of the Valleyfield Branch of the Canadian Red Cross and Dr, Caza who was inlerviewed a number of times on the radio explaining how painless and important giving blood really is.Mr.Smith had of course praise for the nurses and the many others who in one way or another gave essential ser (Continued on page 2) 200 families New Presbyterian Church reflects continued Chateauguay growth The sod turning for the Presbyterian Church in Chateauguay last week (April 28th) is further manifestation of the growth and expansion of this area.The Presbyterian congregation in Chateauguay has grown from Sunday school classes at the home of Mr.R.Griffiths in Chateauguay Park in September 1957 to a congregation of over 200 families by the end of 1962.The first survey of the needs of the area was conducted by members of St.Edward's Presbyterian church in Beauharnois in 1957 and in 1958 under Rev.Fred Miller a group was formed to organize church services in Chateauguay.Services were held in the Vetville Hall under Rev.Miller.Later and up to this date the services were held at the Maple School.In December 1959 a petition was signed by more than 100 intended members and adherants for the establishment of a congregation and in February 1960 the Presbytery of Montreal gave its approval, The name .Maplewood Presbyterian Church .was chosen at the first Communion and Congregational Meeting on March 13, 1960 at the Maple Schbol.Land was then pur- chased to build a church on Mec- Leod street [facing Maple School.Later that year Rev.John Allan Was appointed to the new gregational visitation brought purchased for -him.A building fund was established and by the end of 1962 more than 10,000 dollars was in this fund in addition to the land and the manse equities.In the fall of 1962 the sector plan for congregational vasitation brought in more than $14,000 in
