clothing to be sent to Greece and Korea and other far away places where it was urgently needed by underclothed children facing a cruel winder. Then last year we were made aware of an even closer t need for children’s clothing and many local clubs and indviduaLs were packing and sending clothing to the children's home, Brookdale Farm at Farm Point, Quebec.Once more winter is upon us.We are urged to send what we can to hungry and cold children abroad and we are also anxious to do what we can tor those homeless children who have found refuge at Farm Peint. At this season when so many of our own children are thinking in terms of new things for Christmas, we can not forget that the many less privileged children both overseas and closer to home will be happy to have even an old worn pair of slippers and a pair of patched trousers. And this year, we have been informed that not only across the ocean and across the mountain there are children in need of the very essentials of clothing, but right here in Pontiac, attending school with our own children, there are youngsters without the clothes necessary to meet the weather which is already upon them; and without either lunches from home or the money to pay for school lunch.Mrs.Rice, the public health nurse, enters, in the course of her duties the homes of children througn-out the county and has reported the urgent needs of many children. The most immediate need tclay is for winter footwear.Footwear which many wouid consider not fit for wear will save some of these children the discomforts of cold feet as they walk to the country schools or stand in the snow awaiting the school bus.Worn, patched and even unpatched clothing of every size, for both boys and girls can be distributed by Mrs.Rice to those Pontiac families where it is greatly needed. You will hear people say there are certain families who wouldn’t have sense enough to know what to do with articles of clothing if they had them; whose parents drink so much they don’t deserve help; and so on and on.The family problems of these people thing for social service to concern itself with and to be dealt with by the councils where neces-The immediate
