Hon.George Mcllraith, Minister of Public Works, to find out the answers. The following reply was received. The Federal Government will pay half the cost of constructing a new bridge and destroying one now in use.The Provincial governments of Ontario and Quebec will each pay one quarter of the cost.Quebec will be responsible for the upkeep of the old bridge until the new one is ready for use.The provinces must each construct approaches and have 1 them completed by the time the new bridge is built. Not only have these plans been made, but also Mr.Mcllraith has stated that tenders will be reading for some but the offer still holds. If the teachers would like to let us have (in writing) their requests to the school hoard we will publish them. This will be the only way their case clearly be made to the Pontiac public. It is understandable that the Out#ouais (catholic High School Teachers1 Association should want the sympathy of the general public.1 he Outaouais (.atholie Regional Board would also like the sympathy of the public although for them it is probably not so vital. They can just deke out and do something else with their spare time next year but the teachers are in for life. But so far neither the Board nor the Teachers in the strike issue have provided anything on paper which could be construed as a bid for good public relations. This week we did receive 3 phone calls from officials of the Teachers Association but we still hear only generalities, not their specific requests. They tell us it is not their place to inform the public about their dissatisfactions in their employers. We say it is not their place to leave the classroom but better first to acquaint everyone with their needs! There are now 115 of them! They concern salary, hours and conditions of work.As the teachers will not provide them for publication it had been thought that the Board would like the people to know what the teachers1 demands are that are so impossible to meet.Either way, it seems to us to be of great public interest.Even if it only concerns half the schools, that is to say the Roman Catholic ones it is of importance to everyone because who can say when another group may decide to strike?Especially if the current strike proves effective.can THE: STURGEON FAMILY The most recent work received is that of the Sturgeon present, Mrs.Donald Scarrow, Toronto, sends in a finished product, entitled THE STURGEON FAMILY TREE.Reading it over, I ask myself: \u201cWhat family in Shawville is not connected to the Sturgeons?\"
