keep changing, to keep coming up with new ideas, new challenges and new approaches.Conway Twitty believes that.During his 26 years as an entertainer, he’s moved from pioneering the rock and roll explosion of the 1950s to his first love, country music.Conway has had 41 number one records.Three years ago, when his records started falling short of the top ten, he dropped his producer of 14 years and began working with a producer who gave him a fresh approach. He changed, and the top ten records started coming again. Now he’s planning to make another change.Until recently, he didn’t appear on television. Now he does the occasional guest shot, but Country music By DAVE ^MULHOLLAND if negotiations work out, then sometime this year we’ll have an opportunity to see the first Conway Twitty Television Special.“I’d really like to do it,” Conway says, “but I’ve told the production company I’m not interested in doing just another special with a bunch of big names that looks like every other television show.” Conway says the company’s writers are working on ideas for the show, which would be two hours long and made available through syndication."What I want in my career is good solid natural growth,” Conway says.“Things have to change. When they quit changing, they die.” + + + An entertainer’s usual route to success is up the record charts and then on to the concert stage. He wins fans who hear his records on radio, go out and buy them, and then go to see him perform live. But there are exceptions.Although John Allan Cameron's albums have met with moderate success, his traditional, Celtic style is too distinctive for the bland formulas of most radio stations, so he receives little airplay. His drawing power is in live performances.“The thing I do best is to entertain,” he says, “but it would be really terrific to get a hit record, even a minor hit; it would bring me a larger audience, and I want to perform for as many people as possible.” With that in mind, John Allan is off to Nashville this month to record with Randy Scruggs as his producer.Randy, son of bluegrass banjo virtuoso Earl Scruggs, has been a Cameron fan since 1975, when he performed on the Cape Bretoner’s former television show.John Allan says he’s found some excellent .original songs, and he’ll record four of them, which Randy will use to go after an international record deal.“I can’t go through the rest of my life saying I’m comfortable,” John Allan says.“There are a lot of people out there who don’t know who I am, and I want to reach them.” + + + Hold On; Barbara-Anne Sellman; Sunshine Records; SSLP-4024.Although this is a fairly good debut album from Barbara-Anne Sellman, what is most notable in these nine songs is the potential she shows for getting better. Her clear soprano has plenty of power, but her phrasing lacks emotional nuance.Dale Russell’s production is solid, but some songs call for more finesse, rather than filling every breathing space with sound.Overall, however, this is joyable album.an en- Thomson Hall getting ready to meet ‘challenge’ TORONTO (CP) — Whining buzz-saws and hammering are the only sounds ringing through the sweeping contours of its auditorium these days, but the new Roy Thomson Hall is gradually getting dressed up for grand opening night.“Exquisite sound and beauty .the ultimate in acoustical design and detail .enormous artistic challenge .” were some of the superlatives offered by promoters Tuesday along with a lineup of attractions for the big week starting Sept.13.On opening night, Canadian baritone Victor Braun will perform with the Mendelssohn Choir in William Walton’s Belshazzar Feast. The Toronto Symphony, conducted by Andrew Davis, will do the the Poulenc organ concerto with Hugh McLean as soloist.A commissioned work by Canadian composer Murray Schafer will be presented the same night by the Mendelssohn Choir conducted by Elmer Iseler. The choir will also sing Blanche comme la neige by Sir Ernest MacMillan. The first sounds to be heard at the gala concert will be a special fanfare for 12 modern valveless trumpets, full orchestra and organ. The evening concert will conclude with a performance of Ravel’s Dalphnis and Chloe No.2.Among performing artists scheduled to perform later in the week are the Canadian Brass, Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot and the Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus.GETS NEW NAME The $39-million building — called the New Massey Hall until a $4.5-million donation from the family of the late Lord Thomson of Fleet prompted a name change — will open on schedule Sept.13, general manager William Armstrong told a news conference. In fact, he said, it.will open unofficially that afternoon for a “hard-hat” preview for the workers who are feverishly putting the place in shape for opening night.Opening night, incidentally, is an invitation affair for the big donors, corporate and otherwise, who are contributing much-needed dollars to the cause.Set down in the shadow of the CN Tower, the building is widely touted as Canada’s premier concert hall, a curvilinear concept in architecture gracing the corner of downtown King and Simcoe streets.“From concept to completion, achitects and planners sought to create a building that would produce visual pleasure, provide optimum sightlines and ensure acoustical excellence,” said a release distributed at the news conference.“Combinations of light and sound reflective materials were selected to provide the desired effects.Extensive use of exterior glass gives the Roy Thomson Hall a shimmering, reflective facade by day and a transparent appearance when interior lighting is turned on at night.?a Music Chart NO.TITLE 1.Turn Your Love Around 2.Centrefold 3.Shake It Up 4.I Can’t Go For That ABC's spinoff featured four actors recreating their roles from the film, among them, Stephen Furst as Founder (pictured).TV's censorship did little to help the show and despite a meticulous recreation of Faber College's "animals, ” the series did not do well in the ratings and was not renewed for a second season.Question: Can you name the ABC series based on "Animal House"! „asnoH *11*0,, aawsuy I Saturday forms with his band 9:00 Q
