were all injured or not.It often happens, therefore, that packages are sold as damaged, nine-tenths of which at least are as sound as they were before shipment, and being sold for cash, are, with few exceptions, disposed of at ruinous prices to the underwriters, who, of course, when, they find that the rates they have been charging have not been sufficient to remunerate them, next season demand more.A serious injury has thus been done to the whole country, by insurances being forced up to their present high figure. You will please notice, that in the event of damage the Goods must be surveyed, and condemned by two disinterested parties and Lloyds Agent, as well as being endorsed by the Captain of the Ship, that the package was landed from on board of his vessel in a damaged condition, and the damaged portion only can be sold on account of the underwriters and not the entire package, otherwise tney will not pay averages, as they have given us notice to this effect.PUBLIC
