The hon.gentleman had alluded to the policy of the Opposition.Well, the hon gentleman might perhaps have heard some of their movements. The proceedings of their meetings and caucuses leaked out occasionally ; and it was only the other evening that an bon.member had arisen in his place, and stated that he had not done that which nearly all the hon.members from Upper Canada, on this side of Ihe House, believed he had done.[Hear, hear.] Returning, however, to the language of the hon.member for Rouville, he [Mr.Cameron] held that be had no ground whatever for making charges that extraordinary means or improper means bad been resorted to in order to carry the vote of want of confidence.Neither had be any cause wnatever for asserting that hon.gentlemen ou this side of the House wished to adjourn it*ine die.[Hear, hear ] The adjournment was only until to-morrow.W hat right had the Hon.Attorney General West to say, in a sneering way, that hon.members on this side—tbe majority of the House—had asked questions which they had no right to ask, and when they pressed for a reply as to the reason why the members of tbe Government for Lower Canada were not in their places—to tell them that they might send out a search-warrant for them ?(Laughter and cheers.) The hon.Premier farther said that tbe Government had determined on a dissolution ; but he did not inform tbe House whether the Governor bad granted that dissolution ; nnd be then went on to inform the House that it was intended to proceed with ordinary business of an unopposed nature.A vote of supply was also to be asked for; but tbe bon gentleman bad not stated for what length of time—whether for three months, or six months, or twelve months.(Hear.(Hear, hear.)
