Titre :
Morning chronicle and commercial and shipping gazette
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

Institution where the French lahguage can be thoroughly acquired, a FRENCH PROTESTANT BOARDING SCHOOL, of a superior class, has been established In tbe town of St.Hyacinthe, P.Q., 83 miles from Montreal, on tbe Gk T.R.and the Yamaska River. The character of this Establishment Is that of a thorough evangelical Institution Its object la U> divert frem Convents the daughters of the Protestant families of the U.8.as well as of our Provinces. They will find here, without expoelng their faith to the enticements of Popery, an oppor tnnity ot acquiring tbe knowledge of French, Music, Painting, and the various brauches of a good education. In order to secure that object, the Principal has adopted a plan not generally followed by those who leach that language. The pupil. In stead of limiting her effort to the memorisation of grammatical roles and to translations wbloh make dry tbe study of French, has to attend Lectures (In French,) on History.Natural History, Lite tat ore, Logie, Rhetoric Ac., and thus sees widening before her the circle of knowledge as well as the circle of words needed in conversation and public meetings. So far tbe study of that language in our Province has been too much limited to a few short sentences of common conversation. To communicate the taste for study, the desire of being better acquainted with French classics, and to train the mindtotblnk In that language, such is the object contemplated, without neglecting the moral and religious education of tbe pupil. The pr gtess of students who have attended his Hobool a year or two exemplifies in favor of tbe plan adopted and executed. The Principal will still keep up an English class nnder an experienced Lady.Neverthe-leis, he has seen his duty to strengthen the French element, and has consequently secured the waluRble co-operation ot the Rev.J.E.Tanner and Mme.Tanner (for many years Professor in tbe Normal School, Switzerland).Mile.Vessot, one of her pupils, and Mile.Bebtha Fluhmann (shortly expected from Saltzerland), will divide tbe work with b«r, which will greatly facilitate tbe conversational advantages of tbe students.Miss Pauline Payan (Mens, Franc»), who has kindly taken charge of bouM-ke«plng,.wlli complete the French element of the House. The Principal hopes this arrangement, also an Improvement In tbe heating apparatus, the agreeable position of the House, and tbe grounds surrounding it, will eontribote to the happiness and comfort of those that will attend the School.REFERENCES Montreal.Rev W Taylor, D.D.\u2019, Rev Henry Wilkes, D.D,\t#« \u2022 Rev Prf U H Mac Vicar,
