Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

crime to attend a religious service und churchgoing would increase enor- wously.Even thoæ | who now direct their efforts upon Sunday to getting into hotels would transfer their ener vies to lloding a side door to the churches.Human nature is such that oppression reccis .to establish the canse that it aima to crush, In discussing this ancient religion, wuch ill-fceling would be avoided i criticism and defence of the church alike was coulined to the church, an it appears, in our midst. No man can accurately understand any age or any counters in which he has not lived. The Homan Catholic, therefore; resides in Taronta, is not unteason- able in asking that his church ' be judged as it appoars in Toronto.Neither he nor hiv Protestant critic can lagalbiy know anything about the real conditions in France or Italy to- tay, or about the real conditions anywhere else, may three centuries ago.It ia a fair proposition, then, to de wand that Catholics and Protestants ulike be judged by what they do, and how they comport themaclves, here and now. They would be found good people, all headed for the same place, antl conmnon sense teaches that the vast majority will arrive, whatever route they muv select.if the Catholic Church is to decay, her loss will mof come from external attack. She thrives upon persecution, Is there danger from within ?The man on the street is probably quite of the church. But there ure signs that among his more thoughtful co-religionists, the spirit of enquiry and unrest, so prominent awong other Christians, is wot unknown, This finds evidence, not in challenging the doctrines or even the discipline of their church, but in an effort to improve schools; to restate positions mote clearly ; to mare frank- y moot the changed consitions ol modern life ; to prune mere pious belies that encumber essential doc trines ; to give the people more ade: yuate representation in the mlminis- tration of the church.and n more active participation in the forms leave their impress in ecclesiastical improvements.Except in times of stresy, the ordinary layman who han attemited to modernize the ancient church, har usually found disappointment.Lord Acton and St.George Mivart, iv Eugland, are notable examples. No one on the western continent seems inclined to throw him.sclf in the breach, although it is not unjust to suy that many intelligent Catholics feel sulphur acts directly on the liver and excretory organs and purifien and maintaining bodily vigor and and enriches tke blood by the prompt elimination of waste material. Our grandmothers knew this when they dosed us’ with sulpbur and molasses every spring nnd fall, but the erudity and impurity of ordinary flowers of sulphur were often worse than the disease, and cannot compare with the modern concentrated preparations of sulphur, of which Stuart's Calcium Wolers is undoubtedly the best and moat widely used. They aro the natural antidote for liver and kidney troubles and cure constipation and ‘purify the blood in a way that often surprises patient and physician alike.tL Dr, R.M.Wilkine, while experimenting with sulphur remedies, soon found that the sulphur from Calcium was su- rior to uny other form.He Ini "For liver, kidney and blood troubles, especioliy when resulting from consti- tion or malaria, I bave been sur prised pt the results obtained from Stuart's Calcium Wafers. In patients suffering from boile and pimples and even -sented carbuncles, I have repeatedly seen them™dry up and disappear in fou( or five days, leaving the wkin clear and smooth.Although Stuart's Calcium Wafers is a proprietery article and sold by drugyists and for that reason tabooed by many physi- clans, yet 1 know nothmg so sale and relisble for constipation, liver and kidney troubles and especially in all forma of skin disegses au this remedy. At any rate people who arc tired of pills, cnthartion and so-called blond “purifiers” will nd in Stuart’s Calcium Wafers, a far safer, more palat- eble and effective preparation.Send your name and address today for a free trial package and se for If, SA.Stuart Co., 57 Stuart Bldg, Marehall, Mich, in restoring | SERVIAS RULER OX ANXIOUS SEAT Strong Movement on Foot to Depose King Peter THREATS OF MURDER encwed Activity of Friencs of the Mürde Pitre Smith Ward .‘ampbell > Laviolette .Gaul er rr ES J Sweitzer .…… jardner !
