Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

The question of our participation in the present war has long been settled by the most accredited representatives of the Canadian people, by their approval, in the House of Commons, of the first Canadian expedition against Germany.It is not the time to debate on the subject.We must now consider what remains to be done and there is only one answer.We must make any sacrifice necessary to obtain a necessary victory, and the most important way of working in this end is to enlist without delay.3.—Waiting till Canada is attacked is nonsensical for two reasons.It would give Germany an opportunity to vanquish the British Empire, portion by portion, when unity of cffort would bring victory on our side; secs ondly, it is far better to defend Canada on the battlefields of Europe than to have our beautiful provinces to suffer the horrors of the war, as Belgium, Poland, Serbia snd parts of France.Major Vien's eloquent speech was frequently applauded, and the ap- planse lasted long after he had resumed his seat.* - Colonel A.O.Fages, officer com: manding the 8th Military Division, then eloquently thanked Mr.Andre and Major Vien for their interesting tectures, and the population of §t.Sauveur for the splendid manner in vshich they attended and the attention with which they had list:ned to the speakers.Col.Fages said that what hampered the recruiting in this province were the unfortunate contruversier and the demagogic speeches made in some quarters, These scphisticated utters ances have circulated in this distuict, Meetings such as that of last night in the Colonel's opinion, would have the effect of enlightening the people on the true character of the grave circumstances in which the country now evolves.The Colonel was warmly applauded when he resumed bis seat.: Mr.Andre then showed, on the screen, several actual pictures of the war, which were interesting and greatly enjoyed by the large audience.During the evening appropriate selections were played by the R.C.G.A.Basd, which received the well-de- served applause and compliments of all those presesit.: IDEAL FOR OUT DOOR SPORTS.The sweater with Rell Collar, J.M.Mullis has a complete’ assortment of suck Sweaters EY, or wihtite, also cape, gauntiets other outing ae is STON ACTE ASTTME AU "PES DUPED Eu te UP?> ds Instent Relief from Indigestion, Gases, Soumnest, Hearfburn or Sick, Upset Stomach—Try It! “Really does” put bad stomachs in order—“really does” overcome indigestion, dyspepsia, gas, heart! and sournese in five minutes — that — just that—makes Pape's Diapepsin the largest selling stomach regulator in the world.1f what you eat ferments into stubborr.lumps, you belch gus and eructate sour, undigested food and acid; many a splendid opportunity was lost | because they did not follow the man carrying the puck.Te was the first victory of the Emmets on the Arena ice but Marag-r McLaughlin predicts several before the season closes.Both teams can undoubtedly put up a better brand of hockey and if’ the sheet of ice had been hard it is probable that a very good game;
