like every other event he thought they might have to move online or cancel outright.However, despite short notice from the government, he was able to pull the festival\u2019s 15th iteration out of his hat.\u201cWell I knew we were going to end up doing something, so I\u2019ve been in contact with everybody and except for the last concert of the series, it\u2019s all local artists that were all supposed to play at ShazamFest this year,\u201d he said.The event, which showcases music, performing arts, skateboarding, wrestling and burlesque shows, kicked off on July 25 and runs until September 5.The evening begins at 6 p.m.and ends around 10 p.m.every Saturday.Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Przytyk said he is keeping a register of attendees.There is also no camping allowed, and he isn\u2019t selling food or alcohol.People can bring their own food and beverages, but he expects everyone to leave after the ?nal performance.\u201cWe have to keep track of everybody just in case there is an outbreak, so that\u2019s why we only sell tickets online,\u201d said Przytyk.\u201cWe have a liability basically and that\u2019s a big part of it, getting everybody\u2019s name, address and phone number in case something happens.\u201d Opening night brought in a total of 44 people, including technicians, musicians and the audience, based on the fact that the maximum number of people at outdoor events used to be 50.Starting August 3, he\u2019ll be allowed to host 250 people, but the festival founder isn\u2019t pushing it right away.\u201cWe\u2019re going to start with 100 and slowly build our way up as we go through the concert series because after 100 people, 150 people it starts getting harder to police everybody, you know, and that\u2019s not my job in life, it\u2019s to bring people together,\u201d Przytyk said.Normally a four-day event, ShazamFest draws roughly 2,000 guests and 1,200 campers.People come from all over North America to watch performances that other festivals wouldn\u2019t touch when it comes to artistic endeavours, he explained.Without his regular crowd, Przytyk is taking a ?- nancial hit throwing the festival together at the last minute.The event is about 75 per cent of his income, he said, but that has never bothered him before.He lost money for the ?rst 10 years running ShazamFest.\u201cI\u2019m going to do this one way or another, whether it makes money or not, that doesn\u2019t really mean anything,\u201d said Przytyk.\u201cThere was a time I was going to quit and at this point I don\u2019t care anymore; you\u2019ve got to do Page 4 July 31, 2020 Townships Outlet Mount Hereford has new trail access Record Staff After several years of waiting, the new access for hiking in Saint-Herménégilde is now ready.As of last week the new trail access has been open to the public.The Saint-Herménégilde parking lot is located at 2020 Centennial Road, in the Hereford Community Forest.It will provide access to Sentier des Géants (ascent to the summit of Mount Hereford, easy trail) and Sentier des Urubus (descent, easy-intermediate trail), which form a new 6.2 km loop of hiking trails unique in the region.A visit to the mountain will include an interpretation panel, numerous stone staircases, incredible panoramas, passages through rocky faults, etc.For more information, visit the website site http://forethereford.org.There are also two other new hiking trails, Sentier des Coteaux and Sentier des Anciens, and a new mountain bike trail connecting the network of Circuits Frontières to the Camping Mont Expérience Hereford, which will be developed during the month of August 2020 in the area of the East Hereford Parking lot (557 chemin de Coaticook).They should be able to open in September 2020 and like the Sentiers des Géants and Urubus, the trails are being built by Aménagement Sentiers Verts of Coaticook.Visitors are also invited to enjoy an unforgettable hike on Mount Hereford with the Neil-Tillotson Hiking Trail.The trail features babbling brooks, the spectacular Donat Falls, and the delectable fragrance of balsam ?rs.Also admirable are the area\u2019s many bird species, as Mount Hereford is a recognized bird watching site.Visitors furthermore have the opportunity to take in a diversity of forest settings, starting with maple, then conifer and ?nally boreal forests.Mount Hereford\u2019s summit offers a panoramic 360° view from a height of 875 metres\u2014the ninth highest point in the Eastern Townships! The American valley below is resplendent with lakes and mountains.Hikers can also stop at a picnic table on the trail to enjoy a snack on their journey.Admittance is free and the trail is accessible in the winter for snowshoeing and intermediate-level offtrail cross-country skiing.There are two ways to access the hiking trail: 1- East Hereford entrance From Coaticook, take Main St.heading east.Cross the Saint-Jacques intersection and immediately turn right onto Desrosiers St.(Rang 9) in the direction of East Hereford.Go straight for approximately 20 km.Parking will be to the right, at 557 Chemin Coaticook (2 km past the Village of East Hereford sign, right before Chemin Lépine).Length: 12 km (round trip) Approximate duration: 5 h Linear (round trip) Altitude: 875 m Elevation: 600 m Dif?culty: Intermediate 2- Access via the vehicle path The summit of Mount Hereford can also be reached by vehicle via Centennial Drive.From the town of Saint-Her- ménégilde, continue straight on Chemin Saint-Jacques until you reach a stop.At the corner of Chemin Saint- Jacques and Chemin Bissonnette, continue to the right, on Saint-Jacques.The Centennial Drive entrance lies 1.5 km farther, on your right.Caution: dirt road with steep slopes.To ?nd out the status of the Mount Hereford hiking trails, visit the municipality\u2019s website at www.easthereford.ca.Because of COVID-19 visitors are asked to respect two-metres distance at all times.They should also avoid non-es- sential inter-regional travel.There is no access to the refuge and restroom.Women in the ?lm industry applaud Tele?lm Canada\u2019s gender parity efforts Record Staff Three different groups representing women in the ?lm industry from across Canada released a statement applauding Tele?lm Canada\u2019s progress made in terms of gender parity in its various programs.In a press release, the groups Réalisatrices Équitables, Women in Film and Television Canada and Women in View said the improvements are demonstrated by Tele?lm\u2019s recently released year-end report and hope the Crown corporation will stay the course.At the request of the Working Group on Gender Equity, this year\u2019s report was presented with greater precision and transparency.\u201cWe are proud to see that the gender parity measures have resulted in an impressive jump in the number of women directors in the high-budget category ($2.5 million and over), from 19 per cent at the start of the parity measures three years ago to 42 per cent in 2019- 2020.In addition, women-led projects received 42 per cent of Tele?lm\u2019s overall funding last year, an increase of 14 per cent in three years,\u201d a statement from Réalisatrices Équitables reads.\u201cThese statistics dispel once and for all the myth that there is a shortage of talented women directors to lead feature ?lm projects, especially at the highest budget level.\u201d However, despite the encouraging progress made by women directors, the report reveals that projects led by women producers experienced a sharp drop in funding at Tele?lm.The percentage of funded projects produced by women dropped from 61 per cent to 43 per cent and the percentage of funding for these projects dropped from 48 to 32 per cent.Women in Film and Television Canada pointed out that, \u201cWe are concerned about this decline not only because of the lack of ?nancial equity, but also because it is primarily producers who have access to funding from Tele?lm and other institutions, and it is in this key position that the rights and control of the ?nal version of the ?lm reside.To build a fair industry, parity is as essential in production as it is in directing and scriptwriting.\u201d Women in View added, \u201cWe were all hoping that 2020 would be the year in which we would achieve parity in the three key positions -
