either through having attended French school or perhaps having learned some French at home or with neighbors. The question that CVR principal asks himself is whether all parents know about Late French Immersion. Those within the .Protestant School system do know about it.But what about the parents who have decided to send their children into another school system?Paterson would like to invite any parent with children eligible to English language school to consider Late French Immersion, and give him the opportunity to talk to them individually.Vice-principal Bill White, who is directly responsible for Cycle 1 at CVR is also available and interested in talking to parents.Program itself As for the program of Late French Immersion, it keeps the same approach as for other Cycle 1 students in that generalist than after rather look teachers specialists classes. The two teachers presently looking after the LF1 classes at CVR are Marguerite Chouinard and Jacques Mercier. They teach 70 to 75% of the total program, including of course, Language.Math.Ecology.Catholic Religious Instruction or Moral In- in English are English, Music and Workshops. There's a bilingual art THE GLEANER — MAY 20 1987 — 3 Briefs.MASTERPIECE THEATRE - The city of Islip said it was ready to at a cost of store the waste but $240,000, a sum the responsible for disposing of the garbage doesn’t want to pay.The picture of this ghostlike barge plying process which CVESPA has conducted to gather information for a report to be submitted to the regional health and social services council (CSSS Montérégie) regarding the accessibility of health services to the English- speaking community in South West Quebec. At the Hemmingford meeting, Anne Bruce, Director of Nursing at the Barrie Memorial Hospital, reported on the services and community involvement of the Orm- stown hospital.Positive comments were heard from several members of the audience regarding the services provided by the hospital, although some concern was expressed about the increase in the use of the Emergency Department for ‘‘routine’’ problems. Also speaking at the meeting was Robert Madden who is the Coordinator of Home Care and Community Services for the CLSC Jardin du Québec at St-Remi.For the past three years, it is the St- Remi CLSC which has been responsible for community health and social services for the Hemmingford area.Mr.Madden reported that, while in terms of home care services the English-spealgng population of the Hemmingford area is well served by the CLSC.there are other fields, such as mental health and community development which need to be improved for the English-speaking community. If anyone is aware of institutions where it is perhaps difficult to obtain services in English, now is the “Time to Speak Up” about it, so that recommendations to improve the situation can be included in the CVESPA report being prepared. You can call or write to CVESPA at the above address and phone number.CVESPA is 4.1987.George Upton was not its largest farmer.nor was he its key businessman. His greatness was in the humanities, in living life the way it should be.by sharing his love with all who became his friend. His love was shared through his generosity which was boundless.his helpfulness an example, and his ability to detect a friend's frustration or problem and quietly tell a story or give an example to point out the bright and positive side.which normally provided a solution. When one pictures rolling countryside, with pretty fields, stone walls and quiet ponds, you could safely picture George as the person having the character and personality to fit such a pure and tranquil scene.George felt he had borrowed his tranquil scene in this life and was always respectful to his fields and his beloved bush.He treated nature and his animals with Jove and respect and they returned it.His dog Buster still awaits his return, Personally.George taught me many lessons in fitting in with my chosen space in the country, which now carries through to my everyday life.He always took the time and had the fatherly gentle patience to show this city slicker how to properly work in the bush and handle cattle, but more important the feeling and disposition that there should be, when doing it.Farm work became much more pleasant and enjoyable.however distasteful that chore was.In George's last years and as his health slipped away.Huntingdon by Isabel Elder 264-4952 The Huntingdon Women's Institute met with the Dewittville Branch at the home of the President happy couple were then presented a stimulating environment where your child can leam and make friends with other children - a toy-lending library - a place where you can leave your child in good hands while you go shopping. Here your child can participate in activities adapted to his/her learning level, children may come here after school (or come to do their homework). We also organize group excursions (in which you can participate): swimming, sliding, museums, printers, planetarium, the orchards, etc.(toy We also provide individual attention to those children who require it, and lists of babysitters. The Joujoutheque specializes in children’s needs. It is a place specifically for them where they are at ease and can learn to ‘know themselves. We want to guide them in their search for autonomy and self-confidence.We would like to help them develop with positive attitudes. The well-being of your children is our ultimate goal, as well as yours. It is important, however, that we interact not only with the children, but also with you: members, parent, friend, voiunteer, Travelling alone?Over a million people in Quebec go to work alone in their car - that's at least 50% of the working population. The question is: why don't more people share the cost of travelling with others? For someone travelling between 40 and 50 kilometres a day to and from work, the average cost per year is $5,000.Carpooling offers many advantages to car owners, including lower travelling costs and having company while driving. For passengers, it's a safe and practical way to travel, it means no payments for the purchase or upkeep of a vehicle, and reasonable costs. If interested, call .and register with the Bank of Carpoolers kept by Transport Assistance, through which drivers and passengers are matched according to destination and schedule.Examples of passengers needing transportation are: from Chateauguay to St-Constant, 8 and 4:30, Beauharnois to Chateauguay, 9 and 5, Ormstown-Huntingdon 9 and 6, St-Timothée to Huntingdon, 8:30 and 4:30.For details call Transport Assistance, 264-9102.It's a free service.
