Minister Claude Ryan.See page 3 French-only sign issue taken to MNA Godmanchester asks for tourism, recreation change The municipal Council of the Township of Godmanchester has addressed a special request to the MRC Haut St-Laurent.Council would like the MRC to change its arrangement scheme of the territory in order to permit tourism and recreational activities using light equipment in an agricultural zone.This could include the following uses: anairport for remote-control airplanes; trail and bridle path; shelters; portable toilet; and track for all-terrain vehicles.\u2018 Council has also decided to support a request for authorization made to the Quebec Commission for the Protection of Farmland.The request was made by resident Sharon Kelly in connection with parcelling off her property into two pieces of land.The objective is to use the land for non-agricultural purpose by constructing single-dwelling residences on each of the two chunks of land.In view of the fact that the two lots concemed are not recuperable for farming, Council supported her request.It was determined that construction of these two homes would have no significant impact on the neighboring farming Valleyfield Department of Health Services (DSC) announced that 12,000 young people between the age of 13-19 inclusively, living in the Vaudreuil- Soulanges and Valleyfield Island South-West of Montreal will be vaccinated.This vaccination was to begin as soon as Monday, April 27.This decision follows the outbreak of two new cases during the past few days in the area served by the Valleyfield DSC: a young girl in Vaudreuil and a young man in Valleyfield.The DSC has had 6 cases of Meningogoccus infection since the beinning of 1992 of which five are infections of the Meningoccus C type.Although the number is far below the rate needed to recognize an epidemic, the health authorities (DCS, Hospital, Department of Health and Social Services) have recommended an extensive vaccination in order to prevent any new cases among those especially vulnerable to this bacteria: young people from 13 to 19 years old.Measures recommended by the Public Health already taken this year for those close to victims of the disease (antibiotics and vaccination) have not succeeded in stopping the propagation of the bacteria.This is why the Valleyfield DSC has chosen protective measures with a larger range.The DSC has the full collaboration fo the 4 CLSC located on his territory, the collaboration of different DSC, centres d'accueil, du Conseil régional de la santé et des services sociaux of La Montérégie (CRSSSM) and also the collaboration of the different school boards.Teams consisting of nurses, doctors, secretaries and volunteers will work together to make sure the vaccination progresses smoothly.This vaccination will be held in secondary schools, colleges and specialized schools.Students and parents will receive proper information through their respective a track school,\u201d explained head coach Norm Woods when an outsider seemed stunned at the attendance.\u201cWe've always excelled in track and field, finishing either.first or second in the South Shore Inter- , scholastic Athletic Associa- tiôn and the Provincials.\u201d This years CVR track team has a five-person coaching staff.Woods handles pole vaulting and high jump and \u201cdabbles\u2019\u2019 in sprints.Tony Evans is in charge of sprints, while Roy Younie looks after the throwing events (javelin, discus and shot).Fay Craig specializes in hurdles and sprints, while view and how corporations and the courts-deal-with the issues -of\u2014 harassment and rape are the subject of a WCFE-TV priorities special, to be aired Wednesday, April 29, at 8.00 p.m.Rapes, attempted rapes and assault rose by fifty-nine percent in 1991, according to a Justice Department survey released this month.A regional panel of men and women will look at this trend, what is right or wrong between men and women, and how society deals with the attitudes and practices that give rise to sexual assault.The studio panel includes: Cheryl Dick, a Waterbury, Vermont, consultant on workplace issues with the Mount Elmore Institute and a former Equal Opportunity Employment personnel officer with a national firm (Dick has published a handbook for intervention and prevention of sexual harassment which covers types of harassment, actions to take and potential risks involved in the grievance process); Mike Peterson, a Press Republican reporter and single parent of two teen-age boys, who has followed the issues from a male perspective; and Penelope Clute, District Attorney and prosecutor for rape cases in Clinton County, who says the legal system still brings judgemental attitudes and myths to rape trials.Also on the panel will be Andree Matteau, a Montreal psychologist and sexologist, who will give background to behavioral and societal issues in male/ female relationships; and David Boise, a rape prevention counsellor for area high schools and director of the Fred Villari Studio of Self-Defense who reports on his survey of female students in an area high school.In Boise's survey, nearly half of the sample reported they knew of someone who had been raped, eighteen percent reported that had been raped and eighteen percent reported they had been attacked either by a boy friend, a relative or a stranger.The program also includes a random sampling of opinions on harassment and acquaintance rape.Women asked about the issue have offered such comments as \u201cHarassment is indeed a problem in the workplace, but I still hear a lot of comments from the men making jokes about not knowing how to act around women anymore; thinking they're going to be accused of sexual harassment at any time and laughing about it, but it really isn\u2019t a laughing matter,\u201d\u2019 and \u201cI have someone that sexually harasses me at work all the time and he just thinks it's a joke.\"\u2019 Comments from men have included, \u201cWomen are alot more sensitive to smaller things that wouldn't bother men so much,\u2019\u2019 and \u201cWomen think it is more degrading.\u201d\u2019 The program will define legal harassment and explore how corporate America deals with the problem.Viewers will have the opportunity to share their comments, too, in this live,
