rivers, ponds and oceans of our great country will soon be calling Young and old to spend week ends and vacations, boating, fishing, paddling and swimming.Carelessness, lack of foresight and good judgment will result in the usual newspaper headlines recounting needless boating and swimming accidents whereas a little knowledge, care and thoughtfulness will bring a happy ending to these many expeditions.Swimming is one of the most healthful sports. It’ develops strong, smooth muscles and good lung capacity. It can be enjoyed by healthy people of all ages, and this summer can add to your protection.Take advantage of it.If you are entering strange water wade in, test the water for rocks, and underwater hazards before you dive.Similarly, test the shore line for holes to make sure it is safe for the non-swimmers of your party.Keep out of weeds. If you are unfortunate enough to swim into a clump of weeds keep a cool head.Swim breast or side stroke or scull on your back.Move slowly but deliberately until you are out of the weedy areas, Do not waste your strength fighting a current.Swim diagonally with it, you may end up further from your objective but alive.Do not swim these small craft.Swimmers should remember that canoes and small boats upset easily in bad weather or when occupants move around. If your canoe capsizes remember to stay with your craft. It floats.Hang on, perhaps crawl up and sit on the bottom if you can right your cance. You may have a long cold wait for help, but you'll be safe.Don't swim for shore, It has been said, “Accidents don’t opening play for its 1953, 54 season will be Shaw's masterpiece, Saint Joan, and Charles Rittenhouse, will direct the play and is planning to hold open readings shortly. To follow Saint Joan, the directors’ report announces the American comedy success, Life with Mother, Clarence Day's sequel to Life with Father, dramatized by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.Originally staged by Guthrie McClintic, with Howard Lindsay and Dorothy Stickney as Mr.and Mrs.Day, Life with Mother was a Broadway success to confound the pessimists who predicted that any sequel to Life with Father would be a disappointment. This domestic comedy, in the 1880's, has never had a professional production in Mon- treal. It will be directed by Lee Prime, ' The report to members also announces that MRT will produce five plays in the 1953-54 season. The play-reading comittee is considering several new releases for the remainder of the season, and is hoping to present a balanced proramme for its members and the general public. In explaining the decision to confine its efforts to five plays only instead of the five major and three studio productions of previous seasons, the MRT report points out that the difficulty of finding adequate rehearsal space, technical help and competent players for eight shows a year was a strain on both volunteers and finances.MRT's plan is to concentrate its efforts, and to give to the ; five plays chosen all the care and talent it would otherwise distribute over eight productions.USE EXAMINER CLASSIFIED ADS WA.2711 Morgan Realties Limited Real Estate Brokers 1455
