some in boys’ work.J.M.Singleton, of the Notre Dame de Grace Y.M.C.A.tells us that the World Service man in Ethiopia is opening up a new world for Addis Ababa youth with his homemade telescope, lectures in health and sanitation, ‘ and his printing press.Another is helping to raise standards in a «Y.M.C.A.rural government centre in Mexico.The World Service man in Japan has invented small area games which are solving the problem of diminishing recreation space in overcrowded cities.Because the Y's program has no political, economic or sectarian strings attached, its ambassadors are acceptable to thousands who would be suspicious of workers, ubsinessmen, or even missionaries.They number only 50—these Y.M.C.A.World Service Men.But this handful is exerting an influence for good that cannot country, be matched by many times that number of our other unofficial ambassadors.They deserve our wholehearted support, as does the Y.M.C.A.itself.Rector ef Trinity The Summing Up Of Revelafion BY REV.CANON R.KENNETH NAYLOR Memorial Church Pentecost was the end of the gelf-revelation of God.He had disclosed Himself in the Old Testament from Abraham onwards as a personal God who entered into communication with His people; made & covenant with them; protected and punished them, and allowed them generation by generation to learn more of His Nature.Then in the Gospel period of the selfereve- lation was deepened in Jesus Christ, and men came to see that God is best known in Jesus’ revelation of Him as a Father, ready to make sacrifices for His people.In Jesus we see God walking the ways of Earth.But even then His disciples did not understand, and the revelation had to go a step further, As Jesus said, it was expedient that He should go away from His disciples; otherwise the Comforter could not come unto them.It was not good that they should enjoy his continued visible presence.If He remained with them they would never raise their thinking above earthly things.So He was withdrawn from their eyes and the Father sent to them the Holy Sprit; invisible, but known through the various symbols of dove, fire and wind; and through the various manifestations of His power in the lives of the disciples, The disciples, through their experience, came to realize that each of these revelations is a revelation of God.They never doubted the God of the Old Testament; they found that they could not explain Jesus except by saying that He is God; and the Power Who dwelt in them and - controlled their lives was very clearly God also.Yet they could think of Father, Son and Holy Spirit separately.The real problem was how, in spite of their experience, they were to maintain the unity of God.The first generation did not try, they simply took it for granted, that though the Father is God, and the Son is God and the Holy Ghost is God, yet there are not three Gods but one God.And eventually the next generations devised the word Trinity to cover the fact.That is why some churches speak of next Sunday as Trinity Sunday, The other great days of the Church stand for events, the mighty acts of God in bringing salvation to men.But Trinity Sunday does not stand for an event, but for the fact which stands behind all events, the fact that God is not a single Person, but a single God, who has made Himself known to men in His Three Persons.Father, Son and Holy Ghost, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE First Church of Christ, Scientist, Westmount 390 Lansdowne Avenue at Sherbrooke Street Sunday, June 5th 11:00 a.m, Church Service.11:00 a.m.Sunday School, Subject of Lesson Sermon: “GOD THE ONLY CAUSE AND CREATOR”, Golden Text: Acts 4:24, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the Sea, and all that In them ts.Wednesday 8:15 p.m.Testimony Meeting.READING ROOM In the Church Edifice, Open to the public Tuesday.Thursday and Friday.2 to 4 p.m, SYNAGOGUES CONGREGATION SHAAR HASHOMAYIM 450 Kensington Avenue, Westmount, Que.Rabbi Wilfred Shuchat Cantor Nothan Mendelson Rev.J.J.Fromm PUBLIC WORSHIP SABBATH EVE Friday, June 3rd Candle Lighting at 8:15 a.m, Evening Services at 6:15 p.m SABBATH MORNING 9:00 a.m.Preliminary Services, 10:00 a.m.Junjor Congregation, 10:00 a.m.Scriptural Readings.Numbers, Ch.4, v.Z1—Ch.7, v.89 Prophets: Judges Ch.13, vs 2-25 Evening Services 8 :25 p.m.Ethics of the Fatners, Ch.1 WEEKDAY SERVICES Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m, Weekday mornings at 7:30 a.m.Sunday and Weekday Evenirg Services nt 8:25 p.m.dr |: Westmount Baptist | + On Sunday evening, Dr.J.A.Johnston will present the story of Savonarola, the Martyr of Florence, the man who was burned at the stake at forty-five.At the morning service, which wiM reach its climax in the Communion of the Lord's Supper, the Minister will have as his theme Wine”, a Sacrifice or a Memorial?: - ANGLICAN ST.MATTHIAS CHURCH Cote St.Antoine Road and Church Hill Rector: Rev.Canon Gilbert Oliver, LTh., M.C.Rev.H.J.Skynwmer, B.A., L.Th, Trinity Sunday 8:00 a.m.Holy Communion, 11:00 a.m.Holy Communion (Choral) and Sermon.Preacher: The Rector.7:30 p.m.Evensong and Sermon.Preacher: Rev, H.J Skynner.Wednesday 11:00 a.m.Holy Communion.Organist: Mr, Eustace Tait, A.C.C.O.Chureh of The Advent Corner of Wood and Western, Westmount , R Alexander Mellor, Rector Mev.Canon S.B.Lindsay, .Honorary Assistant Trinity Sunday :00 a.m.Holy Communion, 45 a.m.Sunday School, 15 a.m.Mattins (Said :00 a.m.SOLEMN EUCH ARIST.7:00 p.m.Festal Evensong.WEEKDAYS: Holy Communion: Monday and Friday at 8:00 a.m.; The tion.Then she pulled a thread: — : GAGE RLEVEN inches wide, pinned them to- ° ‘gether and” laid ‘the pattern pieces on them.Sewing experi» ence helped her unconsciously in - adjusting the pattern into the most economical length of new material to buy.- As she cut out the new garment, she marked darts and seams and buttonholes from the old dress.You can easily tell the right side from the wrong side, even though the old seams have been pressed.And you will probably find, as she did, that this will be the fastest dress sewing you have ever aftempted.One last precaution: keep all the old dress pieces together in a.box or bag.Mark the outside with the amount of material necessary to buy.Include a rough sketch of the way you laid out your pieces.Then your second new dress can be made even faster than the first duplicate.The olive is considered civilization’s oldest fruit.New Spring Styles = Made-To-Measure DRESSES © Imported Materials ® Ewropeon Designer Very Moderate Prices ® Repairing © Remodelling ANNA GOWNS] 346A VICTORIA AVENUE {near Somerville) EL.0823 Evenings: CL.1553 Open Fridays te 8 p.m.Proceeds donated fo TICKETS NOW ON SALE MARY BEETLES Presents BALLET ENTRE NOUS ond 1955 DANCE RECITALS | GESU THEATRE, FRI, JUNE 3 and 10, at 8.15 p.m.© Y.W.C.A., Dorchester St., SAT.MAY 28, of 2.30 p.m.the KINSMEN CLUB Elwood 5170 in the art business.rl Gallery Reminds you of the FINAL DAYS of their spectacular PRC Sq, PAINTINGS by Famous Canadian and Europeon-Artists AT REDUCTIONS Up to 50% We urge you not to miss this opportunity to acquire lovely examples by great painters &t prices absolutely non-competitive SALE CLOSES WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8 For your convenience galleries will remain open until 9.30 p.m.every evening during the sale.939 Victoria Square CHAR, ARE UN.6-4095 — Douglas Jerrold Ln ae came rt Aha on = ah omy ras pn Ed ;
